St. Lucia Figurine by Carl Larsson
This traditional St. Lucia sculpture brings light and a basket of saffron buns
to warm your home.
On December 13th, St. Lucia Day is celebrated across Scandinavia as the beginning
of the Christmas season. On this day, daughters awaken their families with lussekatte
saffron buns and coffee. Nearly every village holds a St. Lucia pageant, wherein
children dressed in white parade through the town, led by a girl in traditional
costume of white gown with scarlet sash. Upon her head, she wears a lighted
candle wreath of lingonberry twigs. The children process from door to door, bringing
baked goods. This special sculpture by Candy Design is inspired by the beloved artworks
of Swedish artist, Carl Larsson. We offer it here to you in both 5" and 10" sizes.
